Luc Tuymans (Belgium, 1958) is a Belgian painter living and working in Antwerp. He is considered a key figure in contemporary figurative painting and contributor to the revival of painting in the 1990. His work draws on footage from television and photography to explore issues of history and memory and the significant role of the media in the production of images. His work was exhibited in a number of places including Tate Modern, London and is part of the collection of Centre George Pompidou, Paris, The Chicago Art Institute and the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
