Alicja Gescinska

Alicja Gescinska (Poland/Belgium, 1981) is a Polish-Belgian philosopher and author. She received deMens.nu award of best non-fiction novel for her book The Conquest of Freedom, where she discusses the meaning of freedom. In 2016 she interviewed philosophers, writers, artists and scientists on the Belgian TV show Wanderlust and also published her debut novel Een soort van liefde [A Kind of Love]. Gescinska’s philosophy about the meaning of freedom, and how to achieve this in our social and political climate where our freedom is being more and more restricted, is very relevant for a divided Europe.
