Benjamin Barber (1939, US) is an internationally renowned political theorist with an abiding concern for democracy and citizenship to issues of politics, globalization, culture, and education. Barber is the author of best-selling books such as If Mayors Ruled the World (2014) and Jihad vs McWorld (1995). He consults regularly with political and civic leaders in the U.S. (he was an advisor to President Clinton and Governor Howard Dean) and abroad, and is currently working with over one hundred cities and mayors around the world on the Global Parliament of Mayors project.
