Caroline de Gruyter

Caroline de Gruyter (Netherlands) is a Dutch correspondent for the Dutch newspaper NRC Handelsblad, who is currently based in Vienna. She has previously worked as the Geneva and Middle Eastern correspondent for several Dutch newspapers and is the author of De Europeanen. Leven en werken in de hoofdstad van Europa (Europeans. Living and Working in the Capital of Europe), which was published in 2006. Between 2008 and 2013, De Gruyter covered the euro crisis and European politics in Brussels. She was awarded the prestigious Anne Vondeling Prize for her political reporting in 2013.
