Chantal Mouffe (1943, BE) is a Belgian political theorist, specialized in the idea of ‘radical democracy’. She has worked at many universities worldwide and held visiting positions at Harvard, Cornell, Princeton and the CNRS (Paris). Currently she works at the University of Westminister (UK) where she directs the Centre for the Study of Democracy. In her work, for example The Democratic Paradox (2000) and Agonistics: Thinking the World Politically (2003), she argues for a radicalization of modern democracy and the radical potentials of artistic practices.
