Diederik Samsom (The Netherlands, 1971) is a Dutch politician. Since 2003, he is part of the Dutch Parliament on behalf of the Dutch Labor Party (PvdA). In 2012 he was elected parliamentary leader as well as party leader, after which the PvdA gained 38 seats in the national elections. Together with current Prime-Minister Mark Rutte, Samsom formed Cabinet Rutte-II. Before his election to parliament, Samsom was a campaigner and activist for Greenpeace, and CEO of Echte Energie, a green energy company.
