Jet Bussemaker

Jet Bussemaker (Netherlands, 1961) is a Dutch politician. She has been Minister for Education, Culture and Science since 2012. She studied political science at the University of Amsterdam where she graduated cum laude, specializing in political theory. Between 1993 and 1998 she was assistent professor of political science at the same university. After that Jet Bussemaker became a member of the House of Representatives for the Labour Party (PvdA). In 2007 she was appointed State Secretary for Health, Welfare and Sport in the fourth Balkenende government. She has also served as chair of the Netherlands Media Art Institute and the Amsterdam fund for the Arts.
