Julian Rosefeldt (Germany, 1965) is an artist and filmmaker. Since the mid-1990s, Rosefeldt’s has been producing complex and visually opulent political film and video installation. His installations range in style from documentary to theatrical narrative. His work reflects the artist’s fascination with day-to-day reality, and the stereotypes, clichés and mindless repetitions that suffuse popular culture. Through his work we can observe from a cool, detached perspective the formulaic imagery and content that is generated by contemporary media.
Julian Rosefeldt will contribute to the film programme Manifesto on June 3 – 13:00 at De Balie.
