Kareem Lotfy

Kareem Lotfy (Egypt) is a resident at the Rijksakademie voor beeldende kunsten in Amsterdam. Being trained as a graphic designer, his work carries many references and representations.

Logos and brands meet the Middle Eastern culture, where decorative arts have held high esteem for centuries. He finds meaning in the seemingly random patterns of data and algorithms, creating digital art that is as futuristic as it is ancient. In this way he interweaves the old traditions and forms with technologies and techniques of today, creating both statig images and digital paintings.

Kareem Lotfy contributes to Europe Through The Eyes of Our Neighbours – June 2 15:00 in Rijksakademie – ‘t Schip
