Lara Staal (The Netherlands) is a curator, program maker, writer and researcher. She worked three years as a programmer at Frascati Theater in Amsterdam during which she developed socio-political programs in which she created alliances between the art world and other domains such as politics, academia and journalism based on shared urgencies. From 2017 onwards, she works as a freelance curator in the performing arts. During the Forum on European Culture she presents the first part of a trilogy under the title ‘Europe on Trial’ together with former member of the refugee protest group We are Here Yoonis Osman Nuur. The ‘Netherlands on Trial’ and ‘Amsterdam on Trial’ will follow in October and December 2018.’Europe on Trial’ is a peoples’ tribunal that wants to investigate the ethical and political dimensions of Europe’s asylum policy.
