Lars van den Brink (Netherlands) is a Dutch photographer who is most known for his work ‘A Happy Day in Europe’. Apart from working on independent projects, he works regularly for NRCNext, De Volkskrant and KLM, among others. For ‘A Happy Day in Europe’, Van den Brink travelled through Europe for six months in a camper with his wife and children. The project documents places and moments that are created by Europeans in the hope to spend a ‘happy day’. While some pictures merely depict leisure activities, others show local traditions or festivities. In 2014, Van den Brink was awarded a European Newspaper Award.
