Ritva Viljanen (Finland) serves as the Deputy Mayor of the City of Helsinki, in charge of Educational and Cultural Affairs. Her responsibilities include youth and sports affairs as well as employment and immigration. Viljanen was elected to the office as a member of the Social Democratic Party of Finland by the Helsinki City Council in April 2012. Before becoming Deputy Mayor, she held various positions at the Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Justice and the Ministry of the Interior. Viljanen currently is the Chairperson of the Trustees of the Helsinki Music Centre Foundation and of the Steering Group for the Central Library project and a member of the Supervisory Board of the Finnish Cultural Foundation.
