Rüdiger Safranski (1945, DE) is a German philosopher, historian, and author of several philosophical and historical books such as Evil, or the Drama of Freedom (1997) and Romanticism. A German Affair (2007). Safranski is famous for his biographies of philosophers. His works on Heidegger, Schiller, Schopenhauer, Goethe and Nietzsche are translated in more than 30 languages and awarded with many prizes. Together with Peter Sloterdijk, Safranski co-hosted the tv programme “Das Philosophische Quartett”, a debate programme that discusses philosophical and ethical questions.
