Stefan Hertmans (1951, BE) is a Belgian writer with a diverse oeuvre of novels, short stories, essays, theatre plays and poetry. His works is translated in many languages and awarded with prestigious prizes such as Ferdinand Border Prijs and the Ako Literatuurprijs. His most famous work is the bestselling novel Oorlog en Terpetijn (2013): an impressive novel about World War I. For the first Forum on European Culture in 2016 he wrote Antigone in Molenbeek: a contemporary tragedy about terror that takes places in Molenbeek.
