The European Union is under increasing pressure and faced with the rising tide of nationalism and the growing support for far-right parties. In an increasingly interconnected world, those voices that create division between people have gathered momentum at the expense of those who’d rather connect. It is clear that the EU – a project aimed at peace, cooperation, and solidarity – has not been able to present itself in an attractive way to its citizens in the last couple of years.
Eurolab sets outs to change this.
Initiators Wolfgang Tillmans, Rem Koolhaas & Stephan Petermann, together with a group of artists, creatives and communication experts from all over Europe, will go on a 4-day fact-finding mission to establish what has gone wrong in the last 25 years of communicating Europe. Subsequently, in the run-up to the European elections in May 2019, Eurolab intends to start a powerful re-branding of the EU and will offer a comprehensive toolbox of ideas, visuals and strategies. How can cooperation and solidarity be communicated to a large audience in a fresh and compelling way? How can the European Union be valued and recognised by its citizens as a force for good, rather than as a faceless bureaucracy?
The outcomes will be presented during the Eurolab presentation on June 3rd at 16.00 in De Balie.
